NEW YORK (February 22, 2023) – ISS Market Intelligence (ISS MI), a unit of Institutional Shareholder Services and leading global provider of data, analytics, insights, media, and events solutions to the global financial services industry, today announced a significant expansion of responsible investing and ESG-related data attributes available through its Simfund platform. The expanded dataset will provide Simfund users with a comprehensive and granular set of ESG data factors, including the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) classifications for funds sold within the EU, all on one integrated platform.
The addition of over 20 new data attributes significantly enhances Simfund users’ ability to classify and analyze flows and trends related to ESG styled funds, and to conduct advanced competitor and peer group benchmarking while leveraging Simfund’s extensive historical fund and financial product data. The new ESG-related data attributes cover funds with ESG themes and strategies such as: impact investing, including microfinance, sustainable bonds, and sustainable development goals (SDGs); “negative” screening attributes, with exclusions such as alcohol, weapons, tobacco, and nuclear; and “positive” screening attributes, such as thematic or positive tilt. In addition, Simfund users can now access EU SFDR classifications for investment funds covering Articles 6, 8, and 9, including detail regarding the article under which the fund falls, enabling users to track changes to funds’ SFDR classifications over time and the impact on fund flows.
“These expanded data capabilities reflect our continued investment in Simfund as a market leading platform that enhances strategic, product, financial, and distribution decision-making for its users,” said Ben Doob, Managing Director and Head of ISS Market Intelligence. “ESG and SFDR data is among the most frequently requested enhancements from our clients whose need to evaluate a growing array of ESG fund characteristics, while aligning with the EU regulatory environment and SFDR classifications, will now be met.”
